WINTER PHOTOGRAPHY TOURS

The winter photography tours offer access to impressive frozen landscapes like the ice caves, glaciers, ice beaches, frozen waterfalls, mountainous terrain and streams. Winter light in Alaska illuminates our arctic sky with colors unique to the Last Frontier, and as evening hours approach we’ll be on the lookout for the Aurora Borealis (northern lights). All while learning new techniques as we take your photography skills to a higher level.

WINTER DAY TOURS – (October 1 – March 15)

Day tour locations in the winter will vary depending on season conditions, which may factor ice, snow accumulation and weather. We’ll depart from your hotel or scheduled pickup location in Anchorage for our tour. Tour dates and times revolves around winter light, we’ll confirm a pickup time once your tour has been booked. Throughout our winter, local events offer great like Fur Rondy, Iditarod and other winter events in neighboring communities there are great local culture photo opportunities.

WINTER TWILIGHT & AURORA TOURS – (September 1 – March 15)

Winter light brings new life to our Alaska landscape, from coastal regions to our high alpine terrain. This twilight photo tour covers the Southcentral region of Alaska. Throughout the winter we monitor space weather activity for the added possibilities of photographing the northern lights. Pre-scouted locations will vary depending on the weather, and departure schedules change weekly as we move toward and beyond winter solstice.

Enjoy driving around in our new spacious Mercedes van, which outfitted for winter travel and features large windows to enjoy our frozen landscapes in route to our location(s).

Winter temperatures can be as low -20f to and average 35f. It’s important to dress for winter conditions and in layers for this photo tour. During our winter season mobility can be challenging. Sometimes icy conditions will be involved at certain locations, our participants should come prepared for these situations. It is essential to pack yourself snacks and water for all our trips, even on trips where we’ll make stops for meals. Great nature photography is often dependent on the light and weather, it’s important to understand we may adjust our locations or itinerary for the best opportunities.
